One Great Big Bad Biker Man Boy

So, my boy isn't all that big or bad, but I heard that Toby Keith song with those lyrics earlier today, so it sounded good. To those of you that, like my mom, would rather stick your head in an oven and crank up the gas than listen to country music, don't worry about who he is. You wouldn't like him. Trust me.

I'm a country girl at heart and am getting kinda tired of living in town, but I have to admit there are some advantages. We have a lot of fun at the parks and trails in our town. Partially because it's just hard to learn how to ride a bike on gravel roads and partially because my parents are cruel and like to deprive their children (kidding, Mom, kidding!), I didn't have a bike or learn to ride one until first grade, but Colter will probably be zipping around on a two-wheeler in the next year or two. It's a lot easier to ride a bike on asphalt! At a park near our home with a great walking trail, he drives circles around us on his tricycle. He loves his tricycle!
Whoosh!

Any forestry experts out there? What kind of tree is this? There is a grove of these trees along the trail, and we don't know what they are. They could be my friends, but I need to be introduced.

Toddler Tree Hugger

What is it about a tree that says, "Climb me?" Since when do two-year-olds climb trees? Since now!
Neither this tree or monkey boy are really big enough for any real tree climbing to take place, but it won't be long! John and I planted this tree six years ago. It was only a foot or two taller than Colter when we planted it. When we moved in to this house, there wasn't a tree in the yard; my tree-loving soul was very distressed. We planted quite a few, and they are actually starting to look like real trees instead of twigs. Yay! Trees make me happy, and obviously my boy has a thing for them as well.

Cabin Fever

RAIN, RAIN GO AWAY! I want spring. I want 70 degrees. I'm tired of the warm days being rainy, and the sunny days being cold and windy. Rain is great, and I guess too much rain is better than too little (except for residents of a flood plain), but we've gotten so much rain lately it's ridiculous! If April Showers come in March, what happens to the May flowers? And do the April showers become April monsoons? I'm ready for nice, warm walks outside. I'm ready to sit on our deck and wish the neighbors' dogs would all get sent to the pound. I'm ready to dig in the dirt and plant something. Most of all, I'm ready for the trees to get some leaves!!!!

LOOK at this tree! How long is it going to stand in my yard NAKED?! Put some leaves on, man.

It's so close to budding. Almost there!

I'm ready for the trees to look like this.

And this. By the way, since it's April now, and surely the weather will warm up soon, I decided I'd better get serious about my baby weight/stomach pooch that apparently isn't going to just disappear on it's own. My spring clothes are not going to fit if I don't do something drastic, so today I worked out for TWO hours and ate only CELERY and CARROTS!

Absolutely no Easter candy.

Or peanut butter.

April Fools.
